Romantic Getaway in Sintra
Are you planning a romantic getaway in Sintra? Sintra is an open air museum. Full of palaces and gardens you will not see in just one day. Ideal for romantic getaways or weekends for two. We leave here our suggestion for your adventure program in Sintra.
First day in Sintra
Quinta da Regaleira
Being the Águamel Sintra located in the historical center of the village only five minutes walk from the Quinta da Regaleira, we suggest there to be the first place to visit.
It will take at least 3 hours to explore the palace, the caves and the underground tower, as well as its splendid garden.

Tascantiga
To recover energies for the afternoon tour, we suggest having lunch in our neighboring called tascantiga. You can try the best that Portuguese gastronomy has to offer with the Midas touch from Chef Vitor Paes, a born creative who likes to reinvent the most classic recipes of our country.

Pena National Palace and Moorish Castle
In the afternoon, allow yourself to be surprised by the Pena Palace and Moorish Castle. You can walk or take a tuktuk or the bus in front of Águamel Sintra. We always suggest that the visit to Pena Palace be done in the afternoon, so that you can enjoy the view of the magnificent Moorish Castle. Being Sintra known for its microclimate, in the morning it is likely to find the palace shrouded in mist.

And again it will take three or more hours to get to know one of the greatest examples of Romanticism in the 19th century and certainly one of the most beautiful palaces in the world.
Bacalhau na Vila
As in all romantic getaways the romantic dinner can not be missed. Try the Bacalhau na Vila! We are certain that you will be amazed by the best tapas and cod dishes, from traditional to new interpretations. If at the end of the meal you present one of the Codfish in the Villa flyers available at the Águamel Sintra, you’ll have the offer of a Port wine goblet.

Finish the night in our living room by drinking some tea and review some of the best images you’ve saved from the first day, and why not, if there is still room for one more sweetie, try our cake that is available every day for our guests. Homemade cake made by Ana and Sofia which you will have the possibility of meeting in our guesthouse.
Second day in Sintra
Start the day with our rich breakfast buffet in variety, quality and quantity. This is one of the facilities that distinguish us in Sintra and one of the most valued by our guests.
Palace of Monserrate
In the morning, visit one of the most beautiful architectural and landscape creations of Romanticism in Portugal: the Monserrate Park and Palace.
The gardens received species from around the world and were organized by geographical areas. The turf façade of the Palace allows for a well-deserved rest during the discovery of one of the richest Portuguese botanical gardens.

At the end of the afternoon, and in rounding off the two-day getaway, you will definitely want to meet the famous Piriquita for a tea or coffee with a dagger or pillow, which is Sintra’s specialty. And if you still have time, take time to stroll around the village and get to know Sintra viewpoints.
